Animation project

Updated: Nov 12, 2019

About: This piece reflects a children's storybook and the colorful illustrations that are familiar from childhood. As we grow into adults we tend to lose this element of whimsical fun from our lives and the way that these stories made us feel. I wanted to bring this element of fun back and show that there's no shame in having fun as an adult. I enjoyed making this in animate and the unique experience of "drawing" on a computer with a mouse. We all need a little color and whimsical fun sometimes! This piece was inspired by Eric Carle's "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". I wanted it to be very bold and vibrant with contrasting colors that catch peoples attention and draw the eye in. Unlike other forms of animation, I was actually going for a stop-motion like effect, with each frame being unique and the changing of frames depicting the motion, it is not meant to flow smoothly. I really enjoyed seeing my classmates animations and how each one was so different and unique. Mine did not have a plotline/storyline as much as other people's did, mine is more abstract and up for individual interpretation.
