This article focused on the role of technology in art and how technology influences art and art influences technology. In the early days of the web, when there was not as many people on it as their is now, the internet seemed like the wild west where people could be free to express themselves creatively and use this new platform as a means to create art. People could connect with each other in new ways that they had never been able to before via online chatrooms and interactive websites. People used this new space to put out the most personal and raw versions of themselves, like their sexuality or radical political beliefs. It was a way to shed the rigidity of everyday life without fear of consequence. Today the internet still feels like the wild west, but less free because it seems like now everyone uses it almost all the time. If you put something out onto the internet that is deemed unacceptable, people can trace back to your identity and you can face very real-life consequences, like being fired from your job. I still think that the internet is a place for art, graphic and digital design has become a huge field with many experts. Animation technology is continuing to advance making digital art more real and life-like than ever. New VR technology employs tons of artists to make entire rich and vivid digital worlds. I think digital art is the new platform and will continue to grow and evolve. Art is always changing and growing, and that's what makes it so great.
